If there's no PHOTO…

Royal Philharmonic Orchestra + Star Wars + Picnic + Park = Breathless

Last night we discovered one of the most amazing cultural highlights London has to offer in summer: The English Heritage Picnic Concerts at Kenwood House in Hampstead Heath.

And it was not just any old concert. Last night the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra conducted by Paul Bateman was playing “Music of the Movies”.

Starting with the first notes of Magnificent Seven I had goose bumps all night. It was breathtaking. The perfect evening for music, picnic and film lovers alike. And they played them all: Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jurassic Park, Schindlers List, Avatar, Psycho. Truly amazing.

We chose to sit in deck chairs quite close to the stage, but when we walked past all the picnickers on their blankets with hampers – some of them really looked like they do this every day – we decided that for next time we will just book the picnic grounds in the back.

This will definitely become a tradition for us. And we hope that the weather always plays out this way – with no clouds in sight.
